Does life need to be fair to you?
I chanced upon this book ‘Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World. It is written by William H. McRaven, a U.S. Navy Retired who has served 37 years as a Navy SEAL, his final assignment was as Commander of all U.S. Special Operations Forces. He is now Chancellor of the University of Texas System.
Every chapter is worthy to be mentioned but this excerpt really speaks to most of us. “Sometimes no matter how hard you try, no matter how good you are, you still end up as a sugar cookie”.
Sugar cookie refers to the act of rolling and coating oneself in sand as a form of punishment (without any reason) for navy seals. Quote and unquote ‘life isn’t fair and the sooner you learn that the better off you will be’.
We tend to complain that life is not fair. We blame it on the system, the environment, the people and everything else. Does life even need to be fair to you? Some great men and women that we adore had their fair share of life’s unfairness and they dealt with it and became who they are. Quoting the author: Don’t complain. Don’t blame it on your misfortune. Stand tall, look to the future, and drive on!”
Grab a copy of the book from NLB or the ebook. Hope you will enjoy the book as much as I do.
